Fairfield resident Jason Anthony opened with a 67 and ended up shooting 9-under 207 to win the 87th annual Fresno City Amateur Championship on Sunday at par-72 Riverside Golf Course.
Now 31 years old and playing out of Green Valley, the former Fresno State standout held off runner-up Ryan Higton, who finished at 208.
Anthony was the last player to qualify for match play at last year’s U.S. Amateur Championship.
Finishing third at 210 was Monterey Peninsula Country Club member Michael Tolladay. Coming in at 212 in a tie for fourth were Fig Garden’s Nick Sorensen and San Joaquin’s Jason Higton.
There was a full field of 156 players.
