Taylor Owen of San Juan Capistrano, Ricky Owaki of Yorba Linda and Brandon Lee of Alpharetta, Ga. all shared medalist honors with rounds of 4-under 67.
Owen had five birdies–including three straight on holes No.16 through No.18–and a bogey. Owaki also had five birdies, including three in a row on holes No.15 through No.17, and a bogey. Lee went a different route, bagging nine birdies to go with five bogeys.
The other five players earning automatic spots in the championship were Jon Peterson of Granite Bay (69), Bradley Peil of Rescue (70), Jack Persons of San Francisco (71), Jordan Weir of El Dorado Hills and Sean Demeter of Sacramento (72).
Demeter beat three other players in a playoff for the final spot. The first alternate is Gary Dunn of Granite Bay, who was second in the NCGA Four-Ball Championship playing with Cameron Champ. The second alternate is Roseville resident Lee Gearhart.
The championship proper will be held June 16-21 at La Costa Resort in Carlsbad.
