San Jose resident Justin Suh shot rounds of 67-65-71 to win by six shots at the 2014 Santa Clara County Championship at par-70 San Jose Country Club.
Suh, who was coming off a win at last week’s CIF State Boys’ Golf Championship, leaped into the lead on Friday with a first-round 67 and went on to play even better, distancing himself from the field with a second-round 65. Despite a surge from the leading contenders, Suh, who plays at the host club San Jose Country Club, rode to an easy victory.
Robby Salomon shot a final-round 66 to take solo second ahead of third-place finisher Andrew Bonner.
Matt Willliams and Matt Cohn shot final rounds of 69 and 68, respectively, to tie for fourth place.
In the Senior Division, Ken Noonan topped Casey Boyns and recent NCGA Senior Championship winner Jim Knoll in a playoff to prevail. All three players finished at 150 after the 36-hole championship before Noonan prevailed.
Boyns shot a final-round 72 to sneak into the playoff.
