McCloud Golf Course held on to the lead and took the title.
McCould GC shot a 10-under 134 to finish at 30-under 254 and win the annual NCGA North Sierra Zone Championship Tuesday at par-72 Del Monte Golf Course in Monterey. Finishing second at 28-under 256 was Bailey Creek GC.

Both teams earned automatic spots into this year’s NCGA Zone Championship, to be held August 25-26 at Poppy Hills GC and Spyglass Hill.
The McCloud GC squad, made up of James Clark, Joe Bambino, Bill Michelon and Robert Hubbard, posted three eagles to go with six birdies and two bogeys in a format that takes the two best net scores per hole of a four-man team. In Monday’s first round at par-70 Carmel Valley Ranch, McCloud GC shot 20-under 120.
The Bailey Creek GC team, comprised of teammates Bob Brockway, John Peragallo, Don Robinson and Bob Johnson, carded five eagles and five birdies to go with two bogeys. Bailey Creek GC had entered the final round trailing McCould GC by six shots.

Jumping into third place was the Fall River Valley GC team of Paul Ziesing, Brian Boehlert, Stephen Prigmore and Mark Nass. Fall River Valley GC shot a day-low 128 at Del Monte thanks to four eagles and 10 birdies a day after a 129 at Carmel Valley Ranch. Their rally would come up just a stroke short of tying Bailey Creek GC for second place.
Fourth place went to Lakeridge GC, who shot a final round 133 to finish at 259. Graeagle Meadows GC finished fifth at 12-under 260.

McCloud Golf Course is the team to catch after day one of this year’s NCGA North Sierra Zone Championship.
McCloud GC took the lead in this year’s tournament, posting a 20-under 120 Monday at par-70 Carmel Valley Ranch. The McCloud GC team, comprised of James Clark, Joe Bambino, Bill Michelon and Robert Hubbard, went bogey free with six eagles and seven birdies.
Tied for second at 14-under 126 are both Lakeridge GC and Bailey Creek GC.
Lakeridge GC, made up of teammates Shane Foster, Craig Foster, Brian Foster and Paul Kautz, carded five eagles and four birdies but also had two bogeys.
The Bailey Creek GC squad, made up of teammates Bob Brockway, John Peragallo, Don Robinson and Bob Johnson, had six eagles and five birdies but also carded a bogey and two critical double-bogeys.
Lake Alamanor CC and Graeagle Meadows GC are both tied for fourth at 128, eight strokes behind the leaders.
The two low teams will advance to this year’s NCGA Zone Championship, slated for August 25-26 at Poppy Hills GC and Spyglass Hill.
Tuesday’s second round will be held at par-72 Del Monte Golf Course.
