MONTEREY– The Sacramento GC came from behind to take home the title in the NCGA Sacramento Zone Championship. Scoring a 39-under-par 247 in a format that takes the two best net scores per hole of a four-man team, Dave Marks, Jason Marks, Nathan Andreatta and Larry Andreatta edged out the competition with a solid final round at Del Monte GC. Sacramento GC started the final round tied for sixth place after a first-round 14-under-par at Quail Lodge GC. The group carded eight net eagles in the final round to clinch the victory by six strokes.
Dry Creek GC, starring Michael Moriarty, Scott Pierson, Robert Benson and Alan Proctor, finished in second place for the event. The foursome finished the tournament with a 33-under-par 253. Dry Creek GC started the final round on stroke back of the leaders after an opening round 16-under-par. With two net bogeys on the front nine of the final 18, Dry Creek GC made a comeback on the final nine with five net birdies and three net eagles.
Sacramento GC and Dry Creek GC advance to the 47th< Annual NCGA Zone Championship at Spyglass Hill GC and Del Monte GC on August 26-27.

CARMEL – Two teams are tied atop the leaderboard after the first round of the Sacramento Zone Championship. The team from Mather GC and the Emerald Lakes GC team each posted a score of 125, 17-under-par at Quail Lodge GC, in a format which takes the two best net scores per hole of a four-man team.
The Mather GC team of Mark Collins, Thomas Clark, Leonard Rush and Bob Schuelter posted their score of 17-under-par thanks to two net double eagles, four net eagles and five net birdies to go along with two net bogeys. The Emerald Lakes GC team featuring Joe Martin, John Martin, Dan Nelson and Doug Nelson scored their 17-under-par by converting one net double eagle, six net eagles and four net birdies along with two net bogeys.
Right behind Mather GC and Emerald Lakes GC at 16-under-par and alone in third place is Dry Creek GC. Also in contention in a tie for fourth place at 15-under-par are the teams from Bartley Cavanaugh GC and Green Tree GC. Tied for sixth and still in the hunt at 14-under-par are the teams from Sacramento GC and Mick Grove GC. Valley Hi CC is alone in eighth place at 13-under-par, while rounding out the top-10 in a tie for ninth at 12-under-par are Woodbridge GCC and Wildhorse GC.
Tomorrow’s final round will take place at Del Monte GC with the top two teams advancing to the 47th Annual NCGA Zone Championship at Spyglass Hill GC and Del Monte GC on August 26-27.
