MATHER – Thirty-eight juniors tried to qualify at Mather GC on Thursday for the 84th Annual NCGA Junior Championship. Twenty-seven boys battled for 13 available spots, while 11 girls competed for four spots.
In the boys 16-18 division there were seven spots available with 17 boys competing. Tyler Collier led the way firing a four-under par 68. He was closely followed by Bryce Johnson alone in second at three-under par 69. Austin Sandoval finished third with a two-under par 70, while Quinn Carlsen finished alone in fourth with a one-under 71. The final three spots went to Corey Eddings, Jesse Goldstein and John Burke, who finished tied for fifth with a score of one-over par 73.
Daniel Gregg led the boys 14-15 division with a score of two-under par 70. He was one of six to qualify among the 10 who competed in the division. Josh Sedeno finished second with an even-par 72, while Robert Briggs took solo third place with a two-over par 74. Drake Mendenhall and Mitchell Cornell finished tied for fourth with 76s, while Joseph Bosetti captured the final spot with a 77.
The girls division was led by Noor Ahmed firing a three-over par 75, three shots clear of her nearest competitors. Desiree Anderson finished second with a score of six-over par 78, while tied for third and grabbing the last two spots at 10-over par 82 were Brittany O’Bryant and Neeve Chen.
The NCGA Junior Championship will take place July 8-9 at Spyglass Hill GC. All results are unofficial until scorecards are verified by the NCGA staff.
