MONTEREY –The North Valley Zone Championship wrapped up Tuesday at Del Monte GC and crowned Brooktrails GC as its champion. The Brooktrails GC team featuring Scott Kopman, Steve Lunde, Dan Pabalate and Edmund Tepas matched their score of 122 from Monday to total 244, 42-under par for 36 holes. In a format which takes the two best net scores per hole of a four-man team, Brooktrails GC had plenty of red on its scorecard, which included a net triple-eagle, a net double-eagle, five net eagles and six net birdies to go along with a net bogey. The quartet of players’ 22-under par score separated it from the rest of the field as the first round co-leaders took a seven-stroke victory.
Finishing as runner-ups in the event was the team from Little River Inn GC consisting of Bobby Burdick, Gary Roach, Russell Roach and Terry Stratton. Little River Inn GC started the day alone in third place, but finished tied for second with Yolo Fliers Club at 251 after 36 holes. After the first hole of a sudden-death playoff Little River Inn survived and advanced to the championship proper.
Both teams from Brooktrails GC and Little River Inn GC will compete in the 47th Annual NCGA Zone Championship August 26-27 at Spyglass Hill GC and Del Monte GC.

CARMEL – Two teams are tied for the lead after Monday’s opening round of the NCGA North Valley Zone Championship at Quail Lodge GC. Brooktrails GC and Glenn G&CC each posted rounds of 122, 20-under par at the par-71 course in a format which takes the two best net scores per hole of a four-man team. Brooktrails GC featuring Scott Kopman, Steve Lunde, Dan Pabalte and Edmund Tepas got to the 20-under mark thanks to seven net eagles and seven net birdies, with only one net bogey on their scorecard. The Glenn G&CC team of Grover Baker, Terry Baker, Tom Dixon and Ken Dunn carded a score of 20-under by teaming up for one net double eagle, six net eagles and six net birdies to go along with a single bogey.
Little River Inn GC is currently in third place after a first round score of 18-under par, while Lake Wildwood GC and Yolo Fliers Club are tied for fourth at 15-under par. Tomorrow’s final round will conclude at Del Monte GC with the top two teams advancing to the NCGA Zone Championship August 26-27 at Spyglass Hill GC and Del Monte GC.
