GRANITE BAY – Jeff Hoffman and Russell Humphrey continued their success as four-ball partners, winning the second annual Granite Bay Four-Ball Championship at Granite Bay GC. Hoffman and Humphrey, who won the NCGA Master Division Four-Ball Championship less than six months ago, proved why they’re a formidable team to be reckoned with, posting a 36-hole score of 135, seven-under par at the par-71 layout. The duo’s three-shot victory also boosted their status on the Player of the Year list as they both surpassed Tyler Raber for the top spot. Hoffman holds a lead of 270 points, with Humphrey right behind at 267, while Raber is third at 250.
Finishing in second at the Granite Bay Four-Ball Championship was the team of Dave Swanson and Craig Miyamoto at 138, while Jon Peterson and Gary DeBlaquiere, the defending champions of the event, finished third at 139. Gary Dunn and Dan Becker finished alone in fourth at 141, while brothers Austin and Andrew Roberts captured solo fifth place at 142.
In the senior division Greg O’Malley and Ralph Costanzo outdueled Craig Gandy and Tom Scarlett in a playoff to take the senior title. Both teams finished the 36-hole day with a score of one-under par 141 before the extra golf. Third place went to Mark Miller and Tony McBroom, who finished at 142 after having a three-shot 18-hole lead. Tied for fourth place were the teams of Rob Schneider and Bob Reed, and Robert Bunbury and Bob Stangroom at 143.
