PACIFIC GROVE – Casey Boyns and Bill Moore got a bit of revenge from the 2012 NCGA Four-Ball Championship by beating Russell Humphrey and James Watt in the 2013 amateurgolf.com Monterey County Four-Ball. Ten months earlier Boyns and Moore were on the losing end of sudden-death playoff that went in Humphrey and Watt’s favor, but in leading up to this year’s NCGA Four-Ball Championship, Boyns and Moore sent a message that they’ll once again be gunning for that elusive title.
The duo finished the 36-hole event with a team score of 126, 14-under par, two shots better than Humphrey and Watt at 128. Boyns and Moore fired rounds of 64 and 62, and as impressive as their final round 62 was, Humphrey and Watt did them one better on Sunday firing a final round 61. Tied for third were the teams of Jeff Birtton and Jerry Ledzinski, and Kyle John and Drew Nelson at 130. Finishing fifth was the Griggs team (Chris and Stephen), who posted a 36-hole score of 132.
In the senior division Neil Duffy and Frank Piper teamed up for a 36-hole score of 129 to take a three-shot victory. Tied for second were the teams of Michael Harding and Mark Miller, and Rob Adolph and Ken Noonan at 132. Earning fourth place points were Terry Foreman and Mark Hill at 133, while Dan Bieber and Robert Fulton captured fifth place points at 134.
