SAN JOSE – Matt Williams of Chico won his second tournament of the year at the San Jose City Championship with a score of 141 at Santa Teresa GC. Williams, who had won the Fairfield City just two weeks earlier continued his stellar play and edged out three others for the San Jose City title. Aleksei Koika, Andre De Decker and Shintaro Ban finished in three-way tie for second, each totaling a 36-hole score of 142. Seventeen-year-old Justin Pagila earned fifth place with a score of 143, while 16-year-old Amay Poria took sixth with a score of 144. Jon Bettencourt and Owen Lin finished in a tie for seventh at 145, while five players finished tied for ninth at 146, including defending champion Brent Booth.
San Jose resident Ray Kong won the senior division with a 36-hole score of 145. Kong beat out Peter Moren of Danville for the top prize as Moren finished at 146. A pair of Santa Cruz residents took third and fourth place respectively: Neil Duffy 148, and Bill Snell 153. Rounding out the top five are Michael Wishart and Jim Welsh, who tied for fifth with a score of 154.
