CARMEL – The team from Fremont Park GC featuring Matt Calhoun, George Dwyer, Joseph Hodges and Ron Ormonde cruised to a 10-stroke victory in the NCGA East Bay Zone Championship. They followed yesterday’s 24-under net score with a 13-under par net score of 129 at Quail Lodge GC for a 36-hole 249 total. In a tournament format that takes the best two net scores of a four-man team, Fremont Park scored three net eagles and a net double eagle on the day.
Round Hill GC beat Sequoyah CC in a one-hole sudden death playoff as both teams finished regulation at 259, 27-under net par. Round Hill’s team consisted of Steve Brooks, Glen Gross, Robert Mitchell and Terry Van Bibber. Round Hill, which started the day in a four-way tie for fifth, shot a net score of 13-under, 129, good enough to vault into a tie for second place.
The teams from Fremont Park GC and Round Hill GC qualified for the 44th Annual NCGA Zone Championship August 27-28 at Poppy Hills GC and Spyglass Hill GC.

PEBBLE BEACH – How low can you go? Joseph Hodges, Matt Calhoun, Ron Ormonde and George Dwyer of Fremont Park GC answered that question with a 24-under par net 120 to lead the way for the opening round of the East Bay Zone at Poppy Hills GC. In a format which takes the two low net scores of a four-man team, Fremont Park had six net eagles, three net double eagles and a remarkable net score of 4-under par on a single hole for the round. Four strokes back in second place is the team from Blackhawk CC. Summitpointe CC posted an 18-under par, 126 to put them in third place and Sequoyah CC is in fourth place with a 16-under par 128.
The final round is set to be played May 15th at Quail Lodge GC. The top two teams will move on to the Zone Championship on August 27-28, 2012 which will take place at Spyglass Hill GC and Poppy Hills GC.
