PATTERSON – After 36 holes of golf on Monday Chabot College won the Northern California Community College Championship at Diablo Grande Resort GC with a team score of 10-over par. The team event which takes the five best scores of six players saw Chabot College grab an early lead after 18 holes with a team score of 4-over par, 364. In the afternoon that was followed by a 6-over 366 for a 730, 36-hole total, good enough for a 15-stroke margin of victory over Santa Rosa Junior College.
Chabot College was led by the trio of Tyler Archer, Jordan Johnson and Anthony Manguray, who also happened to be the top three finishers in the individual championships. Archer shot a 36-hole score of 140, 4-under par. He followed his morning round of 3-under par 69, with a 1-under par 71 in the afternoon. Finishing in a tie for second was Johnson and Manguray, who both posted a 2-under par, 142 aggregate. Johnson shot the low round of the tournament with an afternoon round of 4-under 68 after a first round 74. Manguray was steady in his play as he posted two rounds of 71.
Both Chabot College and Santa Rosa Junior College qualify for the California State Community College Championships at Santa Maria CC on Monday May 14.
