OAKLAND – Taylor Hobin of Antioch fired a 6-under 36-hole score of 134 to take the 2012 Oakland City Championship at Lake Chabot GC. After an opening round of 2-under par 68, Hobin improved his play with a final round of 4-under par 66 to beat out first round co-leaders Wes Payne and Scott Olds. Menlo Park’s Payne finished alone in second as he too was able to score both his rounds under par with a 67 and 69 for a 136 total. Olds of Antioch finished alone in third as he followed his opening round 67 with an even-par 70 on Sunday. Sean Etow of Aptos played rather consistently with rounds of 69 and 70 to take fourth place, while Oakland resident Scott Morris took fifth place with a 142 total.
The senior division saw Walnut Creek’s Scott Anderson earn his first victory of the year after posting a two-day total of 145. His rounds of 71 and 74 edged out Piedmont’s Bob Burnett who finished solo second with a 146. Neal Pearson of San Leandro took third place with a 36-hole score of 151.
