LIVERMORE – The Junior Tour of Northern California, sponsored by Capital Insurance Group, held its four championship of the fall series at Poppy Ridge, the NCGA members’ course in Livermore.
Justin Suh of San Jose captured the boys’ championship flight, carding an impressive 8-under 136 to win by two strokes over perennial contender Bryson Dechambeau of Clovis (Suh and Dechambeau were tied for the lead heading into the final round after posting first-round 67s). William Brueckner of Walnut Creek and Owen Lin of Cupertino tied for third, five back of the champion.
Casie Cathrea of Livermore ran away with the girls’ championship flight, turning in an championship-low 66 in the first round and following that with 71 in the second for a 7-under total. Paige Lee of Folsom was second, four back of Cathrea while Hannah Suh was third, six behind the champion.
In the boys first flight, Allan Silveira of Tracy took first place by two strokes over Aaron Chen of Fremont. Brendan Hopkins of Danville was third, four back of Silveira.
Aileen Jeong of Dublin nabbed the girls’ first flight title by a single stroke over Quynn Duong of San Jose. Kiran Sangha of San Mateo was third.
The shot of the tournament came from Kelsey Kawaguchi (right), who made her first-ever hole in one on the 7th hole of the Chardonnay course.
The junior tour concludes its year with the Tour Championship at Stevinson Ranch, October 29-30.
