Jakovac in 2003… Won the 2002 San Joaquin Valley Match Play at San Joaquin CC… Won the 2001 San Joaquin Valley Championship at Visalia CC, his second victory in the event… Earned 2000 NCGA Player of the Year honors with 1,266 points to earn a close victory over James Hay of Diablo Grande GC… Shot a 63 in stroke play qualifying at the U.S. Mid-Amateur at The Homestead in Hot Springs, Va., the lowest score for an amateur in the history of USGA competition… Advanced to the round of 16 in match play… Competed for the NCGA team at the 2000 State Amateur, Seaver Cup and in the NCGA/NCPGA Cup Matches… Won the 2000 NCGA Sacramento Valley Championship at Winchester CC by a stroke over fellow Chico native Brian Jones… Qualified for the U.S. Amateur at Baltusrol (N.J.) GC, but failed to advance to match play. Advanced to the quarterfinals at the CGA (State) Amateur for the second year in a row before losing on the second hole of sudden death to Jim Skinner… Finished second at the 2000 San Joaquin Valley Championship at Sunnyside CC in Fresno… Qualified for the 1999 U.S. Amateur at Pebble Beach but missed the cut for match play… Finished fifth at the Sacramento Valley Championship at his home course of Butte Creek CC… Shot a course record 62 at Butte Creek in ’99 and later in the summer won the club championship… Won the 1998 NCGA San Joaquin Valley Championship, beating 1997 and 1998 NCGA Player of the Year Scott Watson with a birdie on the second hole of sudden death… That win was the highlight of a 1998 that marked a comeback of his amateur career… Also during the year, won the Butte Creek Open, was medalist at the NCGA Amateur, advanced to the round of 16 at both the NCGA Am and the CGA (State) Amateur, was ninth at the NCGA Sacramento Valley Championship and third at the State Fair… Played professionally for nine years, including one year (1987) on the PGA Tour… Regained his amateur status in October of ’97 after waiting out the mandatory two years… Tied for 12th at the PGA Tour Qualifying School tournament… While playing at Oral Roberts, won the Southern Intercollegiate in 1983 and was an honorable mention All-American… Helped Oral Roberts to a second-place finish at the NCAA Championship in 1981.
