2011 Four-Ball Net Championship

Spyglass Hill GC/Poppy Hills GC May 9-10, 2011 Results and Scorecards May 10, 2011 PEBBLE BEACH – Dave Langston and Byron McCulloch of Adobe Creek GC went wire-to-wire to win the 44th Annual NCGA Four-Ball Net Championship Tuesday at Poppy Hills GC. The first round leaders who posted a net 61 Monday at Spyglass Hill GC matched their first day total to finish at net 122, nine shots better than their nearest competitors. Finishing in second place was Rancho Murieta CC with a two-day total of net 131. Rancho Murieta’s Joseph Marsac and Ken Willis came from way back firing a net 59 Tuesday after a lackluster net 72 the first day. Also at 131 and in third place (due to a scorecard playoff) was James Barstow and Robert Bucey of Walnut Creek GC. Starting the day in a tie for third with Granite Bay GC and Saddle Creek GC, Walnut Creek shot a net 66 Tuesday to round out the top-three. The team from Sequoyah CC finished just one shot off of third to finish alone in fourth was with a net 132. Baywood GCC who started the day in second place fell out of contention by shooting a net 78 on Tuesday after a net 64 on Monday.      ...

2011 North Zone Championship

Poppy Hills/Quail Lodge May 2-3, 2011 Results and Scorecards May 3, 2011 CARMEL – The Benbow GC team of Travis Early, Pat Goodman, James Pogue and Rick Sutherland held onto its first-round lead to capture the NCGA North Zone Championship at Quail Lodge GC. Benbow had started the day tied at the top with Eureka GC, but a steady 22-under net 120 in the final round produced a 243 total and a stunning 11-shot win in the the format that takes the best two of four net scores per hole. The Butte Creek GC team of George Boelman, Ben Walters, Pat Pillsbury and Peter Massoletti finished second while the Eureka GC team of Cliff Williams, Frank Standley, Jeff Myers and Nelsin Iriarte faded to third. 2011 Central Valley Zone Championship

Poppy Hills/Quail Lodge May 26-27, 2011 Results and Scorecards May 27, 2011 CARMEL – Tom Bair, Al Campopiano, Kevin Hawes and Michael Weintz of Spring Creek GCC fired a net 124 (18-under) Friday to win the Central Valley Zone Championship. Spring Creek GCC started the day in the middle-of-the-pack after scoring a net 134 (10-under) Thursday at Poppy Hills—a format which takes the two best net scores of four per hole—but came roaring back to capture first place. Del Rio GCC’s team of Bruce Russo, Jay Ward, Brad Haskin and Chris Wells took second place after holding off Tracy GCC in a two-hole sudden-death playoff. Del Rio GCC finished one-shot back of the top spot at a net score of 27-under, 259. Oakdale GCC who started the day with the lead at 17-under followed yesterday’s round with a net score of 6-under, 136, to finish at 23-under net (263) and alone in sixth place. 2011 East Bay Zone Championship

Quail Lodge/Poppy Hills April 21-22, 2011 April 22, 2011 Results and Scorecards PEBBLE BEACH – The Las Positas GC team of Pete Walling, Steven Englebretson, Douglas Hattori and Kurt Jaeger captured the East Bay Zone Championship at Poppy Hills Friday, in a tournament which takes the low two of four net scores per hole. Las Positas followed a 15-under net round of 127 at Quail Lodge Thursday with an 18-under net round of 126 at the par-72 Poppy Hills for a two-day total of 253. Finishing in second place two shots back at 255 were Richard Goldstein, Will Lujan, Scott Miley and Eric Bambury of Ruby Hill GC, who started the day with a two-shot lead over Las Positas. Ruby Hill’s team followed Thursday’s net 125 with a net 130. Starting the day in a tie for sixth place the Bridges team made a strong run for one of the top two spots only to fall short and finish alone in third with a net score of 258.
