It’s not easy when you’re going head-to-head with a PGA Tour event. On the other hand, Pebble Beach Golf Links is also tough to beat.

For the second year in a row, the TaylorMade Pebble Beach Invitational will find itself in conflict with a PGA Tour event—the RSM Classic at Sea Island in Georgia.

No matter. The field for this year’s Invitational, set for Nov. 15-20 at The Links at Spanish Bay, Spyglass Hill and host Pebble Beach, is still solid.

Among those slated to tee off in what will be the second TaylorMade Invitational are former Masters champions Mike Weir and Trevor Immelman, 2003 Open Championship winner Ben Curtis, 2006 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am winner Arron Oberholser, 2011 U.S. Senior Open winner Olin Browne, Natalie Gulbis and San Jose State alum Todd Fischer.

If you didn’t catch it, those are players from all of the four major tours—PGA, Champions, and LPGA.

And that’s what makes the TaylorMade Invitational so special. Celebrating its 45th year, the Invitational is the only event that features stars from each of golf’s biggest tours competing side-by-side for the same purse.

It’s the most unique event in golf, and it’s at Pebble Beach.

A favorite of the players, it’s also a one-of-a-kind tournament for fans. There’s no admission fee. Zero. Nada.

Secondly, spectators can walk with the players down the fairways. Pebble Beach is one thing, but Spyglass Hill and The Links at Spanish Bay have their own spectacular vistas and charm.

The tournament will be held simultaneously at each of the three courses Thursday through Saturday. Following the first three rounds, there will be a 54 hole cut with the low 40 professionals and ties advancing to Sunday’s final round at Pebble Beach. Last year’s event was won by Jeff Gove.

Among the other players set to tee off include:

  • PGA Tour: Rich Beem, Daniel Chopra and Scott Langley.
  • LPGA Tour: Monterey native Mina Harigae, Blair O’Neal, Kim Welch and Kris Tschetter.
  • Champions Tour: Fred Funk, Esteban Toledo, Scott Simpson and Mark Brooks.
  • Tour: Beau Hossler, John Mallinger and Andrew Putnam.

There are also some NCGA connections. Derek Ernst played on the NCGA’s winning 2011 Morse Cup squad, while Matt Bettencourt won back-to-back NCGA Player of the Year honors in 2001-2002. Kevin Sutherland, meanwhile, won the 1986 NCGA Amateur Match Play Championship.

Formerly the Callaway Pebble Beach Invitational, the tournament changed its name in 2015 when Pebble Beach Resorts announced TaylorMade Golf Co. as an official brand partner in a multi-year deal.
