Manteca City Stroke Play Championship
May 13, 2014
East Union 2013 grad Will Brink, who now plays at UC Davis, shot a 69 Sunday to win his second straight Manteca City Golf Championship at the two-day tournament hosted by the Manteca Parks Golf Course.
Brink finished at 144 (75-69). His 69 included six birdies.
“Will was definitely disappointed (Saturday),” East Union head coach Dennis Wells told the Manteca Bulletin. “He had a good round going except for a couple bad holes. He just came back (Sunday) and felt way more comfortable even with the wind.”
Jesse Contreras, who finished in third place, opened with a first round 72 to take the first round lead.
On Sunday, Brink first caught Contreras on the 11th hole. Brink then birdied the 12th and 13th to pull away for the victory.
Contreras finished with a 77 to score a 149, five strokes behind Brink. Jeff Burda took second place with a 148 with a 76-72.
