California State Fair Senior & Super Senior Championship

MATHER – Dave Baskins edged out current two-time NCGA Senior Player of the Year Jim Knoll and Scott Anderson to win the 2013 California State Fair Senior Championship at Mather GC. Baskins won with a 36-hole score of 4-under-par 140, beating Anderson and Knoll at 3-under-par 141. Tied for fourth place at 2-under-par 142 were Tony McBroom and Dennis Datchler, while tied for sixth place at 1-under-par 143 were Terry Foreman and Steve Hendrick. Tied for eighth place at even-par 144 were No. 2 and 3 players on the NCGA Senior Player of the Year points list, Casey Boyns and Gary Vanier. Rounding out the top-10 by finishing all alone at 1-over-par 145 was Tom Scarlett.

In the super senior division, recently turned-super senior Mike Reuther won by a two-stroke margin. The 65-year-old finished with a 36-hole score of even-par 144, beating out second place finishers James Welsh and Greg Saiki at 2-over-par 146. Chuck Beesley finished alone in fourth at 3-over-par 147, while Rob Thompson, Jay Guerin and Carl Cowan tied for fifth at 4-over-par 148.
