NCGA Junior Championship Qualifying – Rancho Canada

CARMEL – NCGA Junior Qualifying took place Thursday at Rancho Canada GC with 23 golfers advancing to next month’s championship. The boys division had 20 of those 23 players advance to the championship, while the other three spots were awarded to the girls division.
In the boys 16-18 division 23 players competed for 14 spots. Leading the way with a score of 73 on Rancho Canada’s West course were three players: Zachary Mikus, James Trevino and Jeff Carney. Caleb Carter and Jack Burlison finished tied for fourth at 74, while three players tied for sixth at 75 Peter Noerr, Grayson Stapleton and Justin Avery. Nicholas Caputo, Trent Nishimura and Nicholas Simmons tied for ninth at 76, and earning the final three spots at 78 in a tie for 12th were Trent Nishimura, Joshua Diaz and Jack Hill.
The boys 14-15 division had four available spots with seven players competing. Austin Murphy earned low score honors with a 75, beating nearest competition, Ruben Clinton, by four strokes at 79. Daniel Harris finished third with a score of 80, while the final spot went to Scott Mitchell with an 81. The boys 13 and under division had two spots for seven players with Grant Leppek and Lucas Carper qualifying with scores of 78 and 81.
There were three spots available in the girls division with seven players competing. Kiran Sangha led the way with an 18-hole score of 75. Finishing second with a 77 was Jessica Fore, while capturing the final spot and taking third place was Emily Laskin at 78.
The NCGA Junior Championship will take place on July 8-9 at Spyglass Hill GC.
