MOUNTAIN VIEW – NCGA Junior Championship Qualifying took place at Shoreline GC on Thursday with 68 juniors competing for 26 available spots. Across the three different boys divisions and the one girls division, 22 of the qualifiers were boys while four were girls.

The boys 16-18 division had 28 players fighting for 12 spots. Ryan Knopp came out on top with an even-par 72, closely followed by Owen Lin at one-over par 73. Isaiah Salinda and Avinash Sharma finished tied for third each with a score of two-over par 74, while tied for fifth at three-over par 75 were Ryan Cuenca, Austin Kwon and Deane Rinaldi. The final five players from the boys 16-18 division were Bradley Keller, Adam Domingue, Sam Neithammer, Mark-Anthony Vogel and Jeremy Sanchez.

Alexander Tinsay-Roxas led the boys 14-15 division with a score of two-over par 74, earning one of eight spots available among 18 players. Ryan Slater finished second at four-over par 76, while tied for third at six-over par 78 were Jason Brown and Devrath Das. Four players tied for fifth each posting scores of seven-over par 79 to round out the remaining spots: Kyle Morris, Justin Goh, Henry Hughes and John Fracisco.

The boys 13 and under division only had two available spots for eight players. Earning those spots were Andy Zhou and Moibhi Tyndall. Both Zhou and Moibhi fired rounds of one-over par 73, beating the nearest competition by five strokes.

The girls division had 14 girls competing for four available spots with two players sharing medalist honors. Christina Glebova and Samantha Oliva each shot scores of three-over par 75, two strokes better than third place finisher Quynn Duong at five-over par 77. The fourth and final spot went to Kelsey Kawaguchi at 78, six-over par.

The NCGA Junior Championship will take place July 8-9 at Spyglass Hill GC. All results are unofficial until scorecards are verified by the NCGA staff.
