Alameda Commuters Championship & Senior Championship

ALAMEDA – Pace Johnson won the Alameda Commuters Championship beating out one of the deepest fields in all of Northern California tournaments over the last two weekends of April. Johnson put together a 72-hole score of 270 at Chuck Corica GC, which was good enough to claim a five-stroke victory.

Johnson of Fresno beat out Joshua Stone of Stockton, who finished at 72-hole total of 275. In a tie for third were SCGA member Andrew Morgan and Shotaro Ban of San Jose at 278. Tied for fifth were Jacob Solomon of Dublin and Carlos Briones of San Lorenzo. At 279 tied for seventh were more Bay Area residents, Ryan Sloane of Campbell and South San Francisco’s Isaiah Salinda. Brian Swensen of Pleasanton earned ninth place alone at 281. Rounding out the top 10 were four players tied at 282: Justin Pagila, Joshua Granger, Rick Reinsberg and Shintaro Ban.

In the senior division, current NCGA Senior champion, Gary Vanier beat Ken Webb on the first hole of a playoff. Vanier and Webb finished the 36-hole competition tied at 141. Two-time NCGA Player of the Year Jim Knoll finished alone in third at 143, while James Duncan finished solo fourth at 144. Rounding out the top five were three players tied for fifth at 146: Ralph Costanzo, Rob Adolph and Jon Cook
