Salinas City Match Play & Senior Match Play Championship

Salinas Fairways GC
March 16-17, 23-24, 2013

SALINAS – Nick Moore took home the 2013 Jim Lathum Salinas City Championship. Moore finished a great run through five rounds of match play with a 4 & 3 defeat of No. 1 seed and tournament medalist Drew Nelson in the final. In the semifinals Moore beat Brian Nagata 3 & 2. His quarterfinal matchup against Sean Dyer went 6 & 5 in his favor, while his round of 16 was even easier beating Joe Huston 7 & 6. Amazingly, Moore’s toughest matchup was in the round of 32 as it took 18 holes to dispose of Josh Schmidt 1 up.

In the senior division, senior rookie Kimble Cater made his senior debut with a win. Cater was able to knock off NCGA legend Casey Boyns in 22 holes in the final match. Cater also had close victories in the semifinals and quarterfinals. Both matches went the distance as he defeated Rob Adolph 1 up in the semifinals and Neil Duffy 2 up in the quarterfinals. The only match that he had little trouble with was against Jay Guerin in the round of 16, winning 6 & 5.
