FAIRFIELD – Matt Williams of Chico beat Jordan Baroody of Davis in a sudden-death playoff to capture the 2012 Fairfield City Amateur Championship. The two competitors both finished 36 holes of play at a 143 and amazingly had matching scores on both days (69-74). Finishing just outside the playoff and tied for third place were Bill Bergstrom Jr. and Kyle Harman at 144. Bergstrom shot rounds of 71 and 73, while Harman played steady with two rounds of 72. Taking fifth place was Dale Bouguennec at 146. Bouguennec had a share of the 18-hole lead with Baroody and Williams after a first round of 69, but faltered in the final round with a 77.

In the senior division Steve Hendrick won going away with a 145 total. His rounds of 68 and 77 were good enough to take a six-stroke margin of victory. Tied for second were Michael Carr, Tony Amaral and Somboon Kitapan at 151. Rounding out the top five were Craig Cannaday and John Obraza at 153.
