PEBBLE BEACH – Low scores were a common theme for the 14th Annual NCGA Senior Four-Ball Net Championship Qualifying.  The Champion for six of the 13 qualifying sites shot a net 59 or better, and the highest qualifying score among the sites was a 64.

The low net scores in the field came from Metropolitan GL and Sunnyvale GC.  Mike Bowler and Ray Allen from McNally’s GC shot a net 58 to win the Metropolitan GL qualifier and Chris Serrano and Dave Lemert of Fremont Park shot a net 58 to secure the Sunnyvale GC Qualifier.

Castle Oaks GC, San Geronimo GC, Shadow Lakes GC and Sunnyside CC all saw their qualifying champion shoot a net 59.  Glen Beske and Craig Fellner of El Rancho Chico GC won the Castle Oaks GC qualifier, Robert Adra and Judy Schroder of FFIC Fundster won at San Geronimo GC, Bruce Brown and Jeff Hughes of e-Club East Bay narrowly won at Shadow Lakes and the Sunnyside CC qualifier saw a tie amongst Mike Vigario and Gilbert Vilo of District 6 Cal Trans GC and Mike Carrizales and David Ramirez of Javier Fresno West GC.

The smallest qualifier was held at River Oaks GC, where only three teams advanced.  Mike Chambers and Ray Cheek from The Ridge GC shot the low round of the event with a net 60.

The highest winning scores of the qualifying came from Boundary Oaks GC and Poppy Hills GC.  Bruce Leong and Stuart Shicoff of Rancho Solano GC came away with a one stroke victory at Boundary Oaks GC with a net score of 61.  Lark Downs and Bill Seabury of Central Valley Par + tied with Michael Cavanah and Gary Lawrence of Navy Monterey GA at Poppy Hills GC with a final net score of 62.

Among the remaining qualifying courses to advance five teams were Chardonnay GC, Haggin Oaks GC and Lockeford Springs GC.  Craig Moore and Greg Morgan of Blarney Ballers GC came away with the victory at Chardonnay GC by shooting a net 60.  The closest bunch of scores came from Lockeford Spring GC.  All five qualifying scores were within one stroke of eachother, and there was a four-way tie for first.  Included in the tie are Stephen Clifford and Michael Dietz of Apple Mountain GR, Dennis Bellet and Jeff Harris of Sac District GC, Larry Peterson and Tim Volf of Wild Wings GC and Frank Borges and Charlie Smith of Del Rio GCC.  Another closely tested qualifier was at Haggins Oaks GC.  Fred Grenados and Richard Jones of e-Club Sacramento tied Mark Caves and Warren Mcclain of Cordova GC with a net score of 60.

Lastly, advancing four teams was the qualifier at Santa Clara GTC.  Charles James and Craig Ferguson from Transit Hackers GC pulled away with a one stroke victory to win the qualifier.

Results from the 13 qualifying sites are unofficial until the NCGA staff has had a chance to review all scorecards.  The Senior Four-Ball Championship will take place September 17th-18th at Poppy Ridge.
