Sacramento City Championship

Haggin Oaks GC – MacKenzie Course
June 16-17, 2012

SACRAMENTO – Michael Tolladay fired a 36-hole score of 6-under par, 138, to become the new Sacramento City champion. After an opening round of 6-under par 66, Tolladay had a one-stroke lead over two others at 5-under 67: Jonny Baxter and Jordan Swanson. While Baxter and Swanson faded on Sunday posting final rounds of 74 and 77, Tolloday played steady shooting a level par 72. However, that almost wasn’t enough as Vincent Venard, who started the day three behind the lead after an opening round of 69, shot a 2-under par 70 on Sunday to finish at a 36-hole score of 139, good enough for solo second.

Finishing in a three-way tie for third at a two-day total of 141 were Baxter, Menlo Park’s Wes Payne and Josh Stone of Stockton. Stone shot the low round for Sunday play with a 4-under 68, while Payne was close behind with a 3-under 69. There was a six-way tie for sixth place, players finishing with a 142 aggregate: Justin Estrada, Juan Gonzalez, Brian Knoll, Taylor Knoll, Barry Logar and Corey Pereira. This year’s championship field had 105 participants.
